Welcome to mySidekick! MySidekick is a social search engine that learns from you and gets smarter as you search. We allow people to find and submit sites that are automatically tagged with terms used during the search session. These tagged sites are then anonymously shared with the mySidekick community to provide better results for all.
How it Works We then use our special relevancy algorithms to figure out exactly which sites people liked for those tags, and promote those sites as the "People's Choice" for other mySidekick community members. When other people search for a similar topic, these tags help them more easily find what they are looking for in the People Choice's area. The end result is better search results for everyone.
Searching with mySidekick The mySidekick system gets smarter and the search results get better every time people use the system. We hope that you will use mySidekick everyday, become a valued contributor to the mySidekick community and enjoy the better results from the research and automatic tagging by other searchers around the web.
MySidekick was founded in 2005 by Gary Culliss and Daniel Rowe. Gary Culliss is a technology-focused entrepreneur who previously co-founded Direct Hit Technologies, a company based on his patented methods of utilizing user behavior data for improving Internet search results that won the Grand Prize in the 1998 MIT $50K Business Plan competition and was sold to Ask.com (NASDAQ: ASKJ) in April, 2000. Gary also co-founded SoundBite Communications, a company based on his patented telephone technology that allowed customers to immediately record and send a voice message to tens, hundreds or even thousands of people through a voice-driven interface at 1-800-SoundBite. Gary is a registered patent attorney and holds a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, a law degree with honors from Harvard Law School and an MBA with honors from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Daniel Rowe is a software engineer who has been involved in a number of startup companies, including Direct Hit Technologies and SoundBite Communications where he was a principal engineer. Daniel believes that software design and implementation should be kept simple, benefiting from a healthy dose of common sense. In addition to software development, Daniel also works as a free-lance cellist in the Boston area, playing Baroque, modern, and electric cello in groups ranging from small period-instrument ensembles to the acoustic rock band of which he has been a member for over ten years. Daniel holds a Master's degree in computer science from UMass Boston, and was a Dean's Scholar at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Boston University.
